According to the Hollywood Reporter, the production company that brings us Vanderpump Rules, the Real Housewives series and Botched, Evolution Media, has been acquired by MGM TV. Evolution Media is a smaller known production company located in Burbank, California while MGM TV has some reality tv credibility carrying popular hit shows like Survivor, The Voice and Shark Tank. But what does this mean for some of our favorite shows?

You may recognize Evolution Media’s Founder and CEO Douglas Ross and Producer Alex Baskin from closing/opening credits of our shows. Well don’t worry, they’re staying amidst the acquisition with Ross becoming president and Baskin becoming president of programming and development. Reality TV guru Mark Burnett was brought onboard at MGM TV back in 2015 so these shows stand to benefit from his handling.
With Evolution Media’s acquisition, it gives a great vote of confidence for the shows to continue running in the future. We have sat around from year to year waiting to see if Pump Rules or a specific Housewives series is going to be picked up. You can almost assume at this point that these shows will be green-lit at the very least for the next 2-3 years barring something catastrophic. I mean, why acquire someone only to shut down their best assets? It’ll be interesting to see any new wrinkles in the production of the shows or how they’ll benefit from a television viewing perspective.
